2025 June 20-23 - South Dakota Family Trip to Crazy Horse Memorial, Bear Country U.S.A. and Custer State Park Buffalo Herd (Published: 2025-07-06)
Cathy, Joe R., Joe A. and Holt drive from Colorado Springs to Custer, South Dakota to visit Crazy Horse Memorial Mountain Sculpture and take the bus tour to the top and then visit Bear Country U.S.A. Drive Through Wildlife Park. In Custer State Park, we also drive the Needles Highway to see spectacular rock formations and drive through tunnels and drive on Wildlife Loop Rd. to see a gigantic herd of Buffalo up close and personal.

Joe A. drives his Tesla Model S with Joe R. on the 2019 Tesla Sound of Silence Rally Road Trip from Colorado Springs, Colorado up to Custer, South Dakota. We caravan with 8 other Tesla cars to drive through Badlands National Park, visit the famous Wall Drug Store in Wall, South Dakota, gather for a Tesla cars and owners group photo at Crazy Horse Memorial, and have a farewell dinner.

2002 May 27-31 - South Dakota Vacation
See our trip to the Black Hills of South Dakota with Jen Sweezey. The main objective and the highlight of this trip was to take part in the annual
6-mile roundtrip Volksmarch up Crazy Horse Memorial. Once a year, the public can hike up the Memorial and stand on the outstretched arm of Crazy Horse.
We also toured Badlands National Park where Joe and Jen took a couple of 2-hour hikes on trails through the park. Their hiking enthusiasm continued in
Custer State Park, as well as Jewel Cave National Monument.

in Dyersville, Iowa, the Badlands, Wall Drug, Mt. Rushmore, and Crazy Horse Memorial
in South Dakota.
