On August 26, 2018, our son, Joe A., and daughter-in-law, Amanda, invited us to go on a family trip along with our grandson, Holt, from Colorado Springs up to the summit of Mt. Evans at 14,264 feet altitude. It is the 14th highest peak in Colorado, at just 154 feet higher than Pikes Peek. Aside from Pikes Peak, Mt. Evans is the only other Fourteener in Colorado where you can drive up to the summit. It was the first time for all of us to this summit, and Holt's very first summit of hopefully many, many more. It is about a 2 1/2 hour drive from our house. Joe drove us in his all-electric Tesla Model S. It turned out to be a GORGEOUS Colorado day and a wonderfully fun and exciting family trip. Once on the summit road, our first stop was at Summit Lake, where we parked and walked down to the shore of the lake amongst breathtaking Rocky Mountain scenery. In addition to the beautiful scenery, we got to see herds of female Bighorn Sheep and Mountain Goats. Please enjoy viewing the pictures below.
