Introduction

In October 2016, we fly from Colorado Springs to Central New York to attend the wedding of our friend, Steve and Patty's daughter, Natalie to Alex on October 9th in Geneva, New York. We take the opportunity to stay in Rome, NY to visit with Cathy's family and drive to Old Sturbridge Village, Massachusetts to rendezvous and visit with our friend, Joan, who lives in Maine.

October 1-3, 2016 - Rome, NY - We visit with Cathy's family at Rose and Paul's house. We all meet for a wine tasting at Villa Verona, then Bernie, Cathy's brother, takes us on a tour of St. John the Baptist Church in downtown Rome to see the newly installed replica of the famous Pieta Statue by Michelangelo and then on to a section of Griffiss Industrial Park, the former Griffiss Air Force Base where Joe R. was stationed from 1965-1969. On October 3rd, we have a family gathering at Rose and Paul's house in Rome, NY.

October 4-6 - We drive from Rome, NY to Old Sturbridge Village, MA to stay a couple of nights and rendezvous with our friend Joan, who lives in Maine. We have a nice dinner and the next day we tour the historical Old Sturbridge Village.

October 8, 2016 - we drive from Rome, NY to Hammondsport, NY in the Finger Lakes Region to visit and tour the Bully Hill Winery (est. 1970) which we had been to many times when we lived in Central New York. In the late 1970s, we even got to see the founder, the late Walter S. Taylor, at the winery. Their "Love My Goat" is one of our favorite wines. It is a smooth, red semi-sweet wine that we can fortunately purchase in local liquor stores in Colorado Springs.
