Lone Feather Council

The Lone Feather Council is a non-profit organization which promotes educational opportunities for Native American students and strives to perpetuate and maintain the heritage of the Native American Cultures. The Council was established in 1970 and is the oldest Native American organization in the Pikes Peak Region.

Each summer, the Council hosts the largest Pow Wow and Native American Festival in southern Colorado. Held the third weekend in July, it is a celebration of American Indian music, dance, arts, foods and entertainment. It is a family event and teaches non-Indians about the culture and traditions that have been in existence for thousands of years.

The dance competition attracts participants from many states while artists display a large variety of traditional and contemporary art. The days are completed with an assortment of entertainment. A portion of the proceeds of all the events fund the Council's Scholarship Program. These activities educate the community about the Native American cultures that exist in the area.
